Notarizations

A notarized document is a document that has been certified by a Notary Public. In British Columbia, a lawyer is also a Notary Public. The Notary Public is an official who verifies the identities of everybody signing the document before them, confirms the oath or attestation the signatory is making regarding the contents, witnesses the signatures, and imprints the document with a stamp (or “seal”).

Examples of Notarizations include (but are limited to):

  • Affidavits for all documents required at a Public Registry within British Columbia
  • Authorization of minor child travel
  • Certified true copies of documents
  • Execution/Authorization of International documents
  • Insurance loss declarations
  • Motor Vehicles (ICBC) forms

dks Legal & Notary Services offers a daily walk-in notarization service, Monday to Friday at varied times.  Please call ahead on 604-531-2611 for the drop-in schedule, and advise what type of documents that you need notarized.  We operate on a first come, first serve basis, and endeavor to process documents efficiently.

dks Legal & Notary Services do not notarize any separation agreements. dks Legal & Notary Services only witnesses on Wills, Donor POA and Donor Representation Agreements if they have been prepared by dks Legal & Notary Services.

ID Requirements

You will be asked to provide two pieces of identification, one of which must be government-issued such as a Driver’s Licence, BC Identification, Passport or Permanent Resident Card. It is critical that the names must match on the identification AND your documents. Please call prior to your appointment if this is not the case. Note: a combined Drivers’ Licence and Medical card only count as one piece of identification.
