OUR SERVICES
Powers of Attorney
Every adult should be aware that in order to give another person authority to act for them they must do so formally, EVEN for spouses and EVEN if you hold assets jointly. This is done with a Power of Attorney document which dks Legal & Notary Services can assist you with.
In order to ensure your protection and understanding we recommend you download our “intake” form on this page. Read completely through one time and then complete as best you can, then call into the office to set a time for your appointment. Let dks Legal & Notary Services expertise guide and assist you in this very important Estate planning document.
NOTE: A Power of Attorney is restricted to your financial affairs only while you are alive. A Representation Agreement is for personal and health care matters while you are alive.
Corporate Powers of Attorney
Corporations are considered to be separate persons under the eyes of the law. Corporations can also use a Power of Attorney to appoint someone to act on its behalf.
ID Requirements
You will be asked to provide two pieces of identification, one of which must be government-issued such as a Driver’s Licence, BC Identification, Passport or Permanent Resident Card. It is critical that the names must match on the identification AND your documents. Please call prior to your appointment if this is not the case. Note: a combined Drivers’ Licence and Medical card only count as one piece of identification.
Don’t navigate these important decisions alone. Trust our team to assist you.
